Plans for new Minehead Bay Festival

Saturday 3rd September 2022 sees Somerset’s first ever Minehead Bay Festival.

Minehead Bay Festival is a free one-day festival of arts, culture, and wellbeing taking place on Minehead seafront and beach, being planned by MCDT, in collaboration with Kite Project and Minehead Eye.

The idea of the event is to showcase the amazing cultural work that is happening behind the scenes in West Somerset and to put on a really interesting and inspiring day that will appeal to all ages and members of our community, as well as holiday makers.

The day will be an eclectic mix of different art forms ranging from live music for all the family to enjoy, to live graffiti by three talented international street artists as well as circus entertainers, an art workshop tent run by East Quay Gallery Watchet and a wellness tent with a programme of free activities to try throughout the day.

We are excited to have booked the world champion sand sculptor and CBBC Deadly Art TV presenter Nicola Wood, who will be creating an amazing piece on the beach as well as delivering free sand sculpture workshops alongside her team to the public.

We are trying to get as much local talent involved as possible and really hope this can become an annual event that celebrates art, culture, and wellness in Minehead and wider West Somerset.
