Minehead Plan: Inspiring People & Place
In 2021, MCDT were involved in the creation of a socio-economic plan for Minehead, which looks at ways to improve Minehead for those who live and work in the town, as well as those who visit.
A Fresh Vision for Minehead
The Minehead Plan presents a vision and strategy to help direct the future of Minehead. It was prepared in 2021 by PER Consulting on behalf of Minehead and Coast Development Trust.
The Minehead Plan: Inspiring People & Place takes a holistic view of the challenges facing Minehead’s future. It provides a fresh perspective on the way forward, to help enhance and grow the economic and social wellbeing of the town.
Priorities for Minehead
Based on extensive community consultation via focus groups and surveys, the following priority areas were identified:
Energising the
Economy
Supporting businesses, widening the local economy and building on the tourism offer in regenerative and sustainable ways.
Encouraging Young People
Provide more opportunities for young people to thrive and play their part in the success of the community.
Exciting Sense
of Place
Improve entertainment facilities, activities and events to create an exciting sense of place for visitors and the community.
Excellent Visitor
Experience
Broaden and diversify the town and the wider area proposition to create an excellent visitor experience and deliver a sense of place with its own unique character and appeal.
Embracing Biodiversity and
Climate Challenge
Take a leading position in adapting and responding to the climate challenge and imbed consideration of carbon reduction and impact on biodiversity and the environment into all strategic ambitions, local actions, and activities.
