Communi – Tree art competition

What a wonderful celebration! Our community projects lead, Maya, attended the prizegiving for the 5th annual Communi-Tree art competition, run by the brilliant Ema Rowe of Wild Wellies Forest School.

This year was super special. Ema shifted the focus from the trees to include the wild beings that call them home: the birds, insects, fungi, and mammals that make up the ecosystem. The artwork the children created was absolutely stunning!

A huge congratulations to all the winners, your connection to nature truly shines through in your beautiful work.

Well done to the judges who took on the difficult task of choosing the winners: Judging the artwork were artist Leo Davey, Graeme McVite from Exmoor National Park, and Helen at the Wellbeing Centre (who also hosted the celebration event at her beautiful venue)

And of course, a huge well done to Ema for pulling it all together. Five years of this much-loved creative competition is a real achievement!

Excitingly, we’re working with Ema as part of the Understory Project. We are currently developing a digital map that will show the relational web between people, their trees, and the plants and animals that form the Communi-Tree. Building the connections between people and the natural world we are a part of.
