Our mission is to improve Minehead and the wider West Somerset region for everyone who calls it home, works here, or loves to visit.
We lead and support projects that strengthen our community, protect our environment, uplift local businesses, and celebrate everything that makes our region and community special.
We are passionate about creating a proud and positive identity for Minehead and the surrounding coastal areas – a place where everyone can thrive.

We’re here to build strong, positive and lasting relationships within our community, to support teamwork that leads to real progress for West Somerset. We are guided by a simple principle: “If it’s right for Minehead and the surrounding communities, then it’s right for us.”
Keeping this philosophy at the heart of our project planning and delivery helps us to keep sight of our main mission while working across a diverse range of projects.
Our Team
At MCDT, we are a small but committed team, consisting of a Charity Operations Manager, Community Projects Lead, and Project Administrator. We are guided by our dedicated board of trustees and supported by our team of amazing volunteers.

Our Trustees
The MCDT board of trustees has a wealth of knowledge and experience of West Somerset and the people who live here. The Board’s job is to oversee the smooth running of the charity and provide invaluable support and guidance to the project team.
Our Project Team
With thanks to our funders, our project team works across all areas of the charity. They plan and deliver projects, build strong relationships with the community, and track the impact of our work through careful monitoring and evaluation. They also keep everything running smoothly day to day, making sure we stay on track to make a real difference.
Our Volunteers
Our amazing volunteers play a big part in helping us do more and make a lasting difference in West Somerset. Whether it’s helping out at the Minehead Bay Festival, joining community workshops, or supporting our fundraising efforts, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a real difference close to home.
